Install Intercom Integration

Overview

Publishing guides to Intercom using DocsHound lets you use HoundAI to create documents in Intercom's knowledge base. It requires setting up an account and configuring the integration within DocsHound.

Connect Intercom Integration

To create a DocsHound account, first go to the website. Then, click Start Trial. Follow the steps for onboarding. After that, review the guide's table of contents.

After creating your account, you need to connect your Intercom account, via the following steps:

  1. Access settings via the gear icon in the top right

  2. Open the Integrations tab in the modal that appears

  3. View the Intercom button and click Connect

  4. Authorize app the application

Permissions

When connecting DocsHound to Intercom, a few permissions are needed.

These help DocsHound manage and publish articles in Intercom's knowledge base effectively.

  1. Read and List Articles and Read and Write Articles
    You need these to let DocsHound handle articles in your Intercom knowledge base.

  2. Read admins
    This one is for showing and picking the author of articles you export.

With these permissions, DocsHound can work smoothly with Intercom, ensuring your guides reach your users right where they need them.

Disconnect Integration

If you wish to disconnect your DocsHound <> Intercom integration, you can do so by:

  1. Open the guide settings by clicking on the gear icon in the top right corner of the screen.

  2. Select the Integrations tab to find a list of available integrations,

  3. Look for the Intercom option. Next to Intercom's icon, you'll see a Disconnect button. Click on it to remove the integration.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes, you can both connect multiple DocsHound accounts to a single Intercom account and manage multiple knowledge bases within one Intercom account with a single DocsHound account.

  • When you re-export an article in DocsHound that was already published, it will update the existing article in Intercom instead of creating a new one.

  • If you're facing integration issues, first try disconnecting and then reconnecting the integration from the Integrations tab in the settings menu. If the problem persists, contact DocsHound support for assistance.
